CATALYST: A Helping Hand, P.C.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I hold a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling, with a graduate certificate in play therapy. I also completed a masters degree in Conflict Resolution. I have had many experiences that assist me in helping others. I have worked as a mental health therapist in various settings and with all ages, as a mediator/peace worker both here and abroad, as a teacher and artist, as a youth mentor as well as many other positions. All of my work even as a young teen was in an effort to help others in need.
As a young child and later, as an adolescent, I faced my own challenges, experiencing both the positive and negative aspects of the helping professions and the school systems. At a young age I experienced complex grief and was diagnosed with ADHD as well as a learning disability. I began to become oppositional toward authority and was struggling in multiple settings. With the right support, I was able to find ways to compensate and adapt to my environment. I turned my disability into an asset and used that drive to find direction and success in life.
Those personal experiences have provided me with unique insight that can help all of my clients. But in particular, it allows me to connect with young clients struggling, as I did, because of not finding the right mental health services or academic setting. Although the path to achieve my educational goals was difficult, with support, I was able to persevere through difficult times. I hope to assist my young clients to make it through their schooling and to help all of my clients to find happiness, balance, and purpose in life.
Through my experiences, I have learned both personally and professionally just how important it is to find the right help at the right time. By synthesizing my counseling training with my conflicts resolution, I will utilize various modalities and theoretical approaches, that will be used to individualize an approach that will assist you to navigate the challenging roads that life can present.
