I am a NC- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor (LCMHCS - S9544), SC- licensed professional counselor (LPC-7969) Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC-301113)). I hold a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, with a graduate certificate in play therapy from the University of NC-Charlotte and also completed a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from the University of NC-Greensboro.
Over the years, I have had many professional experiences and worked as a mental health therapist in various settings and with ages 1-91 years old. In addition to my work as a counselor I have been a mediator, peace worker, teacher, artist, and youth mentor both here and abroad. All this work even my jobs as a young teen were in an effort to help others in need. Through my experiences I have learned, both personally and professionally, just how important it is to find the right help at the right time. By synthesizing my counseling and conflict resolution training I will utilize different modalities and theoretical approaches. I have a unique ability to individualize a unique approach for each client in order to best help them. Outside of the therapy room I enjoy Adventure like skydiving and scuba diving. I also enjoy being in nature and working on community garden projects to save the earth! I love to learn new things and will always be a student of life ...and I still might go back to school again for my PhD .... and I will push myself to learn as much as I can in this short life.

I have experience working with families in various capacities and settings for more than 19 years. Before becoming a therapist, I was a preschool teacher, nanny, and after-school supervisor, all of which, helped develop my understanding of children. The focus of my therapy work has been with clients 0-18 years old. I utilize a combination of child play therapy, interactive teen therapy, family therapy, sibling therapy, and parenting therapy, along with conflict resolution techniques.
Through play, creative arts and other fun activities I connect with my clients while addressing therapeutic topics. By engaging them this way we can find a door way into a child's life and help them towards a healthy development. Whatever interests your child has is what I use to connect with them. I often adapt areas of interest in order to provide psycho-educational training on such things as emotional identification and regulation. This may take form as imaginary play, interactive games, creative arts, music, movement as well as many other techniques. |
